Wednesday Vignette: Bent!

A rain/snow mix overnight made things pretty...

...unless you're a bamboo grower. A bamboo grower who likes upright plants that is, because this morning's word is "bent".

***

The heavy snow sure does open up the views!

I see a few cracked culms, but most of these will just spring back upright after the snow melts (later today).

I wish this made it easier to get at the dead culms in the center, which are most visible right now and still upright (with no leaves to collect snow).

Anna at Flutter and Hum brings us these Wednesday Vignettes. Head over there to see more!

Wow - all of a sudden, you found yourself in this leafy cavern... The resiliency of bamboo is truly quite astounding!

I'm thinking...I wouldn't be surprised to see a panda bear walking out of the bamboo.

That's some impressive bending there! I had quite a few un-hardended culms snap off in the wind in December.

Pretty but hopefully the snow won't last!

Wow, bamboo is very flexible. All that snow does look very cold.

By 2 PM they were all upright again. As I thought a few broken culms, but it's time to thin the groves a little anyway.

I spy lots of Nimble Mill furniture out there in the cold and wet. Are you testing it?

Loree: My prototypes are out there. Most of them were not made using the final process, so it's not a true test (not completely sealed for instance). Basically they're out there because there's no other place for them, but interesting to see what happens.
