Winter's last gasp?

It's been quite wintery in St. Louis the past few weeks -- as it has been over large parts of this country. Temperatures have been much lower than normal (except for a few days here and there), and we've had a bit of snow.

Our normal high temperatures for this time of year are 50ºF (10ºC) with normal lows around freezing. Instead we've been lucky if the high temps made it to 40ºF (4ºC), with lows in the low 20's or even teens (F). That will be changing later this week though, as the forecast looks like it will get back to "normal".

A little warming can't come too soon for me, as I'm eager to get outside to do more projects. There is much work to be done. I do like seeing the snow though...

You can see exactly where the deer have been: everywhere!

Besides wanting to get to work, I'm also eager to see more plants start waking up.

The daffodils are fine, but I want more!

I want to see the fish again too:

That photo was taken a week ago, but it still looks pretty much like this today. Good thing I got some early pond cleanup done!

Based on the forecast though, the pond ice and all of the snow will probably be gone by the end of the day today, and may not be coming back until next year. (That may be the best sentence I'll write all day.)

Here comes spring!

Gah! We're waiting for another 6-9 inches today and tomorrow after 12 inches last week! Spring is but a distant dream!

The forecast is showing cold temperatures for the middle of the month again, but maybe not as brutal.

I think snow is so wonderful. All photos look amazing! Great lighting and you have an instant studio! The daffodils will look amazing when in bloom! I must try them this season!
The pond - perfection!
