Japanese Maples

It's always wonderful to see the Japanese maples budding in the spring, quickly going from barren to beautiful.
The lighting was just right a few days ago, and lots of photos were snapped.
Not much to say...
... except there were some pollinators finding these trees to be beautiful too...
...even if the pollinators themselves were not:

There are a few of my maples that have not started swelling their buds yet, so this display will continue for a while longer. I love it!

They're great aren't they? Also the new flush of growth have that very vibrant fresh green hue to them that is refreshing to the eye.

I took a bunch of photos of our (green) Japanese maple a few weeks ago. Yes, I love both the flowers and the emerging leaves.
Mark/Gaz: to me it's that sometimes they start green and turn redder later, or start red and then go green. And they're so ferny at this stage!
Loree: I always wonder how a macro shot of a big hairy fly will go over with people. :)
Gerhard: did you post those? I must have missed that one. It's kinda crazy to me that you can grow Japanese maples in your climate. They must be in complete shade...
