I am going to try the rotted fruit feed too.Rock rose https://www.blogger.com/profile/00348711150803587369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7306285038402649171.post-69298015125775436872015-09-12T12:32:15.685-05:002015-09-12T12:32:15.685-05:00J: Thank you for the butterfly ID. I might try the rotting fruit -- as long as I can keep it away from the raccoons!Alanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13393082652312828458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7306285038402649171.post-79651681019851641832015-09-12T05:28:06.169-05:002015-09-12T05:28:06.169-05:00Looks like you've a great photo of a red-spott...Looks like you've a great photo of a red-spotted purple. The male will really put on a performance when trying to attract a female. They love a small plate of rotting peaches or bannanas and will come from all over to inbib. They and the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail will pupate on the plant or in the litter around your swamp milkweed. I was ripping out some SMweed in an area and discovered an ETS caterpillar that had just turned purple; their final larval stage. I moved it to some leaf litter that would not be disturbed this fall as they sometimes winter over. Thanks for taking the time to share your gardening activities. I find them to be very inspiring and informative.J Manthahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18015606150834492862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7306285038402649171.post-91554657864130985222015-09-12T00:39:34.164-05:002015-09-12T00:39:34.164-05:00Mark/Gaz: they do a bit, don't they?
