I did this indoors starting about now (late Feb) and it worked well for me.

BTW, this ended up being artichoke, not cardoon. Cardoon is much prettier in my opinion.Alanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13393082652312828458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7306285038402649171.post-38585268956235297762014-02-25T08:45:03.972-06:002014-02-25T08:45:03.972-06:00I live in STL too and came across this post search...I live in STL too and came across this post searching on how to germinate cardoon seeds. I bought some off the internet and they came w/ very generic instructions. Did you grow yours from seed, and if so, did they have any special requirements?Kim Gamelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05124754045831703631noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7306285038402649171.post-24121482296365699302012-08-28T13:51:16.029-05:002012-08-28T13:51:16.029-05:00Gerhard: It's funny you said "find basal ...Gerhard: It's funny you said "find basal growth" because I didn't notice it on my plant until I looked down there when trying to determine where to cut the stalk. My cardoon looks ugly, too, *and* it has a whole bunch of flower heads that have gone to seed. I will follow your example, collect the seeds, cut down the stalk *and* keep my fingers crossed that I'll find basal growth.Gerhard Bock (Succulents and More)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17583583634141549759noreply@blogger.com
